Bahrain Airport Services (BAS)
| Project description The maintenance building located at the premises of the international airport in Bahrain is used for maintaining the entire mobile equipment required for the operation of the airport. |
| Requirements The original concept of the ventilation system in the maintenance building provided only an insufficient aeration of the building. Unbearable conditions in the working area due to stagnant heat and exhaust fumes caused by testing combustion engines were encountered. |
| Solution AEROVENT Middle East W.L.L. implemented the principle of Natural Ventilation. Ridge ventilator Type AEROTOP-I were selected as exhaust air components. They are permanently open and absolutely weather-proof. To provide additional daylight in the working area translucent panels were selected for the roof sheeting of the ridge ventilator. Special steel frames were installed to accommodate the ridge ventilator in order to distribute the structural load evenly to the structure of the existing building. The existing doors equipped with PVC curtains were used as air inlet components. |
| Project
duration The erection work was executed during the full operation in the maintenance building. The design, the co-ordination and the approval procedures as well as the fabrication of the exhaust air components took approx. 2 months. The erection work was carried out in approx. 20 days only. |
| Specialities Due to the close and constructive co-operation with the owner representative it was possible to execute the project in the shortest period of time. The drastic increase of air changes per hour as well as the additional daylight provided by translucent panels are highly appreciated by the staff.
